365/152 31 Layouts in 31 Days

Today wraps on LOAD512. I have created 31 layouts on 31 days and 30 of them are hanging temporarily on our dining room wall. Only 30 because 1 is a digital page that I have yet to print.  This month was tough for me; I had a 4 day crop, track meets, Garage sale and Hubby had been extra busy with work. But I did a layout every day and most all were on prompt in some way. Now I have to clean up my scrap space and maybe I can pay MJ to tidy the basement again….

365/151 The awards banquet

JD had his Track awards banquet this evening. He earned a Varsity Certificate {he already earned a letter in XC last fall}. He earned 47.6 varsity points {that is nearly 4 times the required points to earn a letter!}

To our surprise he earned an All Academic Award as well, even he was a bit surprised. {I think it means he has a 3.5 or above grade point average.}

He had a great year and these are the two that JD can thank for that; Father and son distance coaches, Bill and Steve.

365/150 The Baby Sitter

We watched Little Man this afternoon. CJ was adamant that she was the “baby sitter” and I was her helper. She absolutely loves to play with him. She even tries to pick him up! They played peek-a-boo and attacked me when I tried to take their picture {Little Man just wanted the camera but CJ just wanted to make sure she was in the picture}.

365/149 Absorbed

We took a quick trip to G-town with the girls to pick up the remain garage sale stuff form Grammie’s. After, of course, running through MC D’s for  some liquid love {Tea for me, Diet Coke for Hubby, Chocolate milk for CJ and White milk for Syd}.

I looked back at them and they were happily drinking and watching Strawberry Shortcake on the DVD player. I thought they looked super cute.

365/148 A Memorial Day get together

We got together with friends for an afternoon of dinner and a whiffle ball game.  There were storms early in the afternoon but the skies cleared and a good game was had by all.

Usually it’s the kids against the adults, but the adults were outnumbered so we had to choose teams.  JD and MJ (as the oldest kids) were team captains.  Against her father’s advice, MJ took her Dad as her #1 pick.  They enjoyed playing together even though the final score didn’t end in her team’s favor.

Thank you to Tate’s and Lloyd’s families for sharing the day with us.

365/147 A summery day

Syd is very much into  bubbles. She loves them! Usually I have to blow them while she pops them but this year she seems to have gotten the blowing part down. Thank goodness, the girl was making me lighted headed with all the bubbles she wanted me make for her!

365/146 A treat

While I’m running a garage sale at Grammies the girls are home with Hubby. He is a softy and walked them down to 7-11 for Slurpee's. What a cute pair!

365/145 So long 1770

We have a SOLD sign in from of our house in G-town. We don’t have a close date yet but we are close. It is bitter sweet to be selling our house but the move was a good one for us.

{Boy do ever miss the well insulated, air conditioned house on these very hot days}

365/144 Last meet as a freshman

JD ran his last meet as a freshman this evening. He had one goal: to beat the freshman record in the 2 mile. He missed it be 1 second! He was bummed but he ran a great race and came on 4th. He is fast for his age and went up against the fastest kids from the Saginaw Valley, so 4th place is not bad at all. We are very proud of him.

365/143 Syd’s sing along

Syd’s school had their Spring Sing this afternoon. She was very excited to be up there singing with her class. She even stayed with her class the whole program {unlike the Christmas program}.

After the singing was over the students and parents went back to the class rooms. CJ wanted to wander around the room and play with the toys, Syd was having none of that. She wanted CJ to stay out of her class room toys. It was a bit funny to watch her reaction to having CJ in her environment.

365/142 New educational tool

We decided that the girls needed an IPad as an educational tool. Syd’s speech therapist uses one with her students and Syd just loves it.

CJ is a bit behind in recognizing the alphabet so we thought that it could not hurt if she played games that worked on this as well. So far it is a big hit with the whole family.

365/141 What a mess

We spent this morning tearing down the final shed on our property. It was a stinky hot chore but it is done and can be checked off out list. Thankfully everything fit in the dumpster.

365/140 All dressed up

Oh my, MJ is getting so grown up! She looked simply beautiful this afternoon. She was off to her friend’s Bat Mitzvah. I just can’t believe how much she has grown in the last few years.

365/139 Last day of Preschool

Today was CJ’s last day of Preschool! This year has flown by; she will be in Kindergarten on just a few months, oh my!

She had a really fun day; Ronald McDonald came and put on a magic show for the class. When he asked CJ to assist with a trick he also had Syd up there to help.  Not the plan but it all worked out in the end.

365/138 A Puzzle with breakfast

I needed some photos of the girls this morning for my scrapbook layout so I pulled out the puzzles. The girls love puzzles and it easy to get the pictures I needed with them absorbed in them.

365/137 New found old stuff

We are going through our stuff; getting ready for the annual garage sale at Grammie’s. I came across the Barbie templates in the basement and CJ was thrilled. She asked if she could buy them at the sale. I told her that we could just keep them and she got over joyed. She played with them all afternoon.

I love it when MJ’s old toys can be loved again by the girls.

365/136 He broke the freshman record!

JD broke the freshman record in the 1600 this afternoon! He finished in 3rd place in 4:47.66. He also ran the 3200 in 10:48 for first place. He is elated to have broke the record and still has one he hopes to break in the next meet. It was been a very good season for him.

365/135 looks can be deceiving

JD was getting his hair cut this afternoon. I was talking away with Stacy and he kept making this face.

I assumed the worst but asked anyway. He was trying to flex his neck muscle so he could pop the snaps on the cape! {Yeah that was not what I was thinking he was doing!} He did not get the snaps to pop but it was sure entertaining to watch him try!

365/134 Mother’s day & our 17th wedding anniversary

We had a busy but rather lazy day. I got taken to breakfast and to DQ. We went for a walk in City forest together as a family. {the photo was taken at city forest and the kids were hamming it up}.

I had a very good day!  I hope my my mom enjoyed her day as well. {We had dinner there yesterday after the meet}

365/133 Another PR

JD had a  big meet today in Hemlock. He ran the 3200; came in 4th overall, 3rd in division 1 with a time of 10:12.90, his fastest time yet! This new time is just 3 seconds from breaking the freshman record and has placed him 6th place in the top ten 3200 runners in the Saginaw Valley. Not bad for a freshman!

365/132 Favorite things

Many toys have the girls interest briefly before they move on the something else… But the balloons and puzzles seem to keep them entertained for hours and hours day after day.

365/131 She is growing up too fast!

MJ has been invited to a friend’s Bat Mitzvah. We needed to find a dress for the dinner and dancing  part of the evening so we went shopping. She was told to think Homecoming type dress.

The first dress was not a contender at all but she really wanted to try it on. The sparkle sucked her in. Holy cow did she transform into a much much much older looking girl right in front of my eyes. We moved on quickly to many other dresses before we finally found the yellow one.

It is very very hard to find an appropriate dress for your height and size that takes consideration that she is only 13 and in the 7th grade!

365/130 Snug as bugs

After the girls go to bed we normally watch a TV show with the older kids. The dogs claim at least a cushion or 2 of their own and snuggle in for the night. Tonight when we were done watching the show we all got up to go to bed and notice the dogs were snuggled into the afghans, one on each couch.
