LOAD 2/12 day 13

Today’s prompt was “Past hobbies”

I choose a lifetime hobby of mine, Reading.

13 Thank you Mrs seibert

Journaling reads:
Reading has been a love of mine since 4th grade. I say that is all to Mrs. Seibert, my special reading teacher.  All through 3rd grade I would leave the classroom while the other students had reading. I would go to Mrs. Seibert class and get extra help as I struggled to read at that age. By the time I was in 4th grade I was in the top reading class and just could not stop reading.
I would read in the car on trips, curled up in the corner of the couch, or in my bed late at night. All through my childhood and into my teens I read all the time. I would get into a book and could not put it down until it was finished even if was 3 AM.
Once I had kids reading became a real challenge because I just could not put the book down once I got into it and I could not afford anymore sleepless night. I gave up reading books for many years; I just quit cold turkey. I missed it but knew I just could not spend the time.
Once the older two were in school I started cleaning houses with Anita and I found a way to “read” and still get work done. I started to listen to books on cassette tape. This worked so well that I moved up to a portable CD player, then to an IPod and finally to my Iphone. I was so thrilled that I could have books playing in my ears all while I got work done.  I was listening to 3-4 books a week! After I had the girls and was staying home again I slowed my book listening to 2 per month as there is just not enough time to plug in and tune out.
My love of books has not waivered since 4th grade, it has just evolved into what works best for me.

Now I have a small library of books waiting for me to “read” all the time all waiting on my computer. Sometimes it is hard for me to believe I thought I could just give up on books all together
