365/346 When “Does not Qualify” is good

It time to for a new IEP {Individualized Education Program} for Syd. She is being moved from the Speech delayed “track” to the Hearing Impaired “track”. She will still get the help with speech, but it is now considered the secondary problem.

As the teachers and professionals at ESA get ready for the IEP meeting, they are testing and evaluating Syd. Today the Occupational Therapist gave me her report and told me Syd no longer qualifies for OT; which means she is “performing at her age level”. That is great!!

As long as she is at ESA, there will always be an OT that visits her classroom to do activities with the class and she will keep an eye out for any backsliding from Syd or the other students. It is very comforting to know that Syd won’t fall through the cracks.
