GLADWIN – The end of the biggest loser program, what a couple of months it was and what a race to the finish.

The final weigh-in marked a drastic change in the results for the winners of this competion.
In first place was Lucynda Killian, losing a total body percentage of 14.49 percent or 21 pounds.

In second place was Terry Whitney, who lost a total body percentage of 14.06 percent or 36 pounds.

In third place was Janet Flynn, who lost a total body percentage of 13.96 percent or 31 pounds.

These top three got a basket of goodies, and also free memberships for the coming year with first place getting 12 month membership, second a 6 month membership, and third a three month.

The whole group was very impressed with the before and after pictures and also with the new measurements of inches lost. Great job everyone, we are very proud of each and every participant and we hope you continue to strive for a healthy and joyful future.

This was a wonderful experience for Jeannie and I, as we have made many new friends and have seen the amazing changes in these peoples lives.

Also, a big thanks needs to go out to Chad Smith, head chef and the Riverwalk Bar and Grill, for coming in and giving a talk about restaurant ordering and tricks of the menu.

Hopefully anyone considering the Biggest Loser program has gotten an application in, because who knows – Gladwin’s Biggest Loser could very well be you."

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.

Biggest Loser final weigh in.

Just a quick post.
It is officially over for my Biggest Loser group. We all weighed in and one of my teammates, Lucy, won by .2%. It was so close. I came in 5th or 6th, I should know more on Wednesday when the paper comes out. I lost another 2 pounds this week, bringing my total weigh loss to 18 lbs, 11.25% of my body gone. All in all I'm very pleased.
I'll post the article from the paper when it is published.
Have a great day.

Snow Day- an early start to Christmas Break!

The words "snow day " normal gets cheers in my house from the kids. Not this morning, JD was bummed that this would cancel the holiday dance the 6, 7 & 8th graders were to attend and MJ just said "I had the perfect outfit picked out and I have the perfect hair today!"

Now Christmas break would be starting a day early, that makes 18 days of my fridge being raided nonstop, I can't believe a 12 and 10 year old can be hungry so often, it is hard to believe they stay so
skinny.

We got about a foot of snow this morning, enough to get Hubby stuck in our driveway. We pushed and push but could not get him out, finally we hook the jerk strap to my AWD van (did I ever mention I love my van) and we pulled it out. Guess we won't be taking his car anywhere this weekend:) I didn't get a picture of it, he would not have appreciate that.

Syd Update:

Syd had her PT evaluation Thursday, they pointed things out to me that I have never noticed about my child. She has a 15 degree tilt to her head, Her one shoulder is slightly higher than the other and when she looks left she tends to pulled her chin down. What does all this mean? Well we will go to PT twice a week for awhile and do exercises with her at home, none of which she will love. They taught us new ways to hold her so she is forced to use her left side more, things feel awkward right now but with practice we all will get the hang of it.

Biggest Loser update:

We had our last "last chance" workout last night, I'm sad to see it e
nd already but it has been 12 weeks and we all have made improvements that should carry us to our goals. Sunday we have our last weigh in and after pictures taken. I will post the pictures when that hit the paper. Here is a picture of part of out group and trainer, that Hubby took last night.

Renee, Jenna, Amanda, Me, Lucy, Mary, Janet, and Jeannie (in the orange)

The other Biggest loser news, Hubby has decided to join the next session. He starts January 18th. I'll keep you updated on his progress.

Early Christmas Gift:

Hubby gave me an early Christmas present! My Biggest Loser buddy Lucy (in the pink) invited me to a weekend (Fri- Mon) crop the last weekend in April (One of the 5 ladies in the room canceled and they needed to fill the space). It will be at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, I have not been to Mackinac Island in 15 or so years and have never been in the hotel. He said I deserved to get away (Aw, he is the best). I did not hesitate for a second in signing up, remember we have 4 children and CJ and Syd will only be 23 and 10 months old by then. This is a big, big deal in my house, mommy gone for 4 days and 3 nights.

Only 127 days to go, can you tell I'm excited?

Have a great weekend.

Syd's Check up & other stuff

Yesterday Syd had her 6 month check up. We were a little anxious about this appointment. At her 3 month check up the Dr. noticed that Syd had a flat spot on the right side of her head. She has always favored that side from birth. The Dr. told us we had until her 6 month check up to try and get her head to round out more (the skull starts fusing together at 8 months), or she would need a helmet.

Well the good news is no helmet, But she does need to have physical therapy for torticollis. After doing some googling on the term, I think if she has this, its only very mildly. I don't believe, even after scouring my picture file, Syd's head tilts to one side, she prefers her right side but does turn her head to the left without a problem. We start PT on Thursday, we'll see what they say and go from there.

On a much lighter note,
I have checked my list twice and I have finished my Christmas shopping! Everything is wrapped but not
under the tree anymore! CJ was being so good about the presents. I don't believe she even knew they we there until the older two started poking around under the tree to see who's names were on the packages. I shooed (Spelling??) them away and told them that CJ was watching and they we not setting a good example (Blah Blah Blah, in one ear and out the other, kind of talk). Well I no sooner walked out of the room and I hear RRRRIIIPPPP and then beeping! I raced back in and there she sat, at the base of the tree, very calmly playing with one of her Christmas gifts. I'm not sure what she would have done if she had opened one of the older kids present, very boring stuff to a 19 month old.

So as MJ and I scrambled to get all the presents up and out of her reach we let her play with her toy, after she was distracted, thanks to MJ, I re-wrapped it and placed it with the other out of reach gifts.

Now our tree has all the little gifts stuff in the branches above the 3' height and the bay window is stuffed with the presents that need to leave this house for the extended relatives.

All is well that ends well.

Biggest Loser update ~ Sunday I lost 1 more lb., 16 lb gone & 9 to go. I will not make it to 135 before final weigh in this Sunday but I am happy to report that I can fit into 6 out of 8 pairs of my jeans from 2005 (before the 2nd baby wave hit our house).

Have a great evening, I'm off to the gym.

December's 1st Post !

Yes, that is right it is December 13th (Happy Birthday Jackie & Happy 1/2 Birthday Syd) and this is my first post of the month.

Let just say wet snow is great for making snowmen but not so good for wireless antennas to get a signal. We had 17" of snow fall in the last 2 weeks, the kids had no school for 2 days & the gym closed down, lets just say it was a long 2 days. Notice the the chair on the deck, the snow is over the seat!

I had some pc problems, I had to "upgrade" to vista, I'm still getting things straightened out. There is a lot that is different and I will have to get used to it all. There is list of items I still need to reload and find again. I guess the worst that happen was I lost all my appointments on my PDA. I'm sure Hubby wants me to let you know that that was user error and not the computers fault, but I will deny it to the end. I have a few pictures I can't locate and a file I can't open but all in all I think things are looking up.

I did finally get all my Christmas cards sent. I put them in the mail Saturday. I'm never this late, but I had to wait until I get my hair cut (Thanks Stacy) before I could sit for a picture and then I had the computer problems. Anyways it got done:)

Sorry if I ruined the surprise for anyone.

I need send a great big thank you to my brother and his family, they took the picture and many others. It is very hard to get all 6 of us to smile and look at the camera at the same time, as you see by all the blooper shots. I just had to add them, they tell the real story.
Now if I could only finish my Christmas shopping. I have a shopping trip planned with mom tomorrow, we will see how much we can accomplish.

I had a weigh in last Sunday and lost 1 lb. It was challenge week and I didn't do half bad, I came in second place and made the paper. Here is part of article.

GLADWIN – Week 10 of Gladwin’s Biggest Loser and what a week it was, as we had great weight loss and a great challenge. Renee Woodruff came out on top in weight loss, losing 7 pounds or 3.6 percent of her body weight. Good job, Renee!

Also in for congratulations are Mary Campbell, Tim Costilla, and Joann Bullard as they all lost four pounds.

This week as challenge was race a throug
h multiple obstacles ranging from a slap shot with a hockey stick, jumping rope, doing sit ups, to shooting a basket and more. The contestants were timed and the winner was Jennifer Nowacki. She had an outrageous time of one minute and forty-nine seconds. Great job, Jennifer! We are very proud of you.

In a close second place was Melinda Greer, with a time of one minute and fifty-eight seconds. Great effort, Melinda!"
from the Gladwin County Record.

I will weigh in again today, (fingers crossed) I hope there is drop but I think I will stay the same. The last 10 lbs are going to hard to get rid of.
